Site Provides Answers for African American Parents

Washington D.C., - African American Child, a web site for parents of African American children, premieres online at http://www.aachild.com.

African American Child's editorial focus includes parenting tips, product reviews, health information, family travel and expert advice from an afrocentric perspective.

Parents use the discussion boards to share ideas and discuss a wide range of issues those specifically affecting African American children today.  Topics such as maintaining cultural identity, dealing with racial differences and afrocentric education are discussed.  The site also offers feature articles and news that reflect positive situations and events occurring in the life of African American children. Of significant importance to this site is the ability to deliver information and tools to prepare families to meet the challenges of parenting in the new century.

"It is very nice to see such a positive site focused on the nurture and development of our most precious resource, our children," says comments Clinical Psychologist Dr. Ron Brown and author of   My Father Has Left Me.  "The work we do at the beginning, in the first three years of life sets the tone for the rest of a child's life, so we need to focus on our children's needs and what we want to teach them from conception. It's nice to see such a good resource online."
