The State of the Union 2010

President Obama, the darling of Wall Street gave his first State of the Union address. President Obama began his speech reviewing America's hard times and the struggles this nation has suffered in that past. Obama spoke of the letters he had read from Americans suffering due to this current economy.
However, President Obama missed the mark in not telling Americans what they wanted to hear. An apology from him and our representatives for performing their jobs poorly. Obama bragged about how he helped the banks recover but didn't mention their record pay in bonuses. He didn't speak of the tax inequities of Corporations as compared to American citizens. He spoke of the success of stabilizing the financial system for the rich and ignored the dwindling American pocket book.
While layoffs continue in business, state and local government. President Obama spoke of not raising taxes when many Americans are out of work who can't pay taxes. Americans out of work have no money to contribute to taxes.
President Obama said the economy is growing while unemployment numbers are increasing. He called for a new jobs bill which in reality will bring millions of dollars to lobbyists and law makers ready to argue on its verbiage and pork.
President Obama made an unrealistic argument of using Wall Street money which has been against small business to now actually help them, an oxymoron. President Obama then made a statement to tax companies that export Americans jobs received with Democrats approval and Republicans muted.
President Obama spoke of financial reform from which problems Washington is responsible for creating. Law makers in Washington have made possible a new age of greed and corruption due to removing financial regulations.
He also spoke of more exports to other countries to create more jobs from Wall Street businesses bent on sending jobs to other countries where there are no regulations to build safe products.
The President spoke of helping Americans obtain a better education while prior to this speech spoke of a spending freeze for education.
He spoke of Health Care and the need for it for Americans. With none of our leaders able to understand the corruption in America's current health care system along with the new corruption in the plan purposed. Simply put, America doesn't like Washington's purposed new health care plan without a real public option.
President Obama continually referred they rescued the American economy. Washington doesn't get it, they rescued Wall Street and not American people as a whole.
The best part of Obama's speech came when he spoke about the way Republicans have poorly run Washington over the past eight years. President Obama is right when he said Americans are tired of the way things are in Washington. He further admonished the Supreme Court and their irresponsible decision to allow corporations, private groups and foreign entities un-feathered capital expenditures to influence and buy politicians and law. Laws the Supreme Court is embarrassing enough are supposedly to uphold.
President Obama naively said he wanted Democrats and Republicans to work together. That's a pipe dream because we all know this country is deeply divided by income, race, poverty and religion. Americans know most Republican's don't like and will never like President Obama and its time he and his fellow democrats man up and realize it.
President Obama was elected by Americans who know the battle we are fighting. We live and experience it every day? Most of the Republican leadership is on the side of wealthy and racist white Americans and proudly fight for it. The American people have known for some time most of the Republican leadership is not interested in working together.
President Obama and Democratic leaders need to understand the Republican ideology is unpopular and is outnumbered in this country. Real change is going to require a fight to obtain it.
The State of the Union address would have been nice if the democratic leadership would finally realize they must fight for its constituents.
