"Why We Must Win
By Elie Parker
Recently, Senator John McCain wrote an article on the war in Iraq, "Why We Must Win." The article reminds me of the Vietnam War. The justification for that war was if Vietnam failed, all of South East Asia would fall to Communism. Well, Vietnam did fall but the rest of Asia did not turn Communist they actually turned capitalist.
Before 55,000 US soldiers are killed in Iraq as they were in Vietnam, we need to closely study why so many people are willing to give up their lives to take ours. In his article, John McCain listed the following groups as terrorist: Baathist killers, terror's sponsors in Iran and Syria, terror's financiers in Saudi Arabia, terror's radical Shiite and Wahhabi inciters, the terrorists of al Qaeda, Ansar al-Islam, Hamas and Hezbollah. George Bush said that by invading Iraq he would make America safer, but looking at John McCain's list of terrorists there seems to be more terrorists now than before Bush invaded Iraq.
The invasion of Iraq seems to have made America more at risk and we need
to ask the question why. Why was America attacked on 911? How has our
Israeli policy affected our relationship with the Arab nations? Why are
so many Arabs trying to kill us and why is the list growing?
