SAN FRANCISCO PSYCHIATRIST WINS ROLLO MAY AWARD

SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday Oct. 30--The Rollo May Award for Humanistic Service conferred by Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center will be presented tonight by Walter Truett Anderson, President of the World Academy of Art and Science, to renowned psychiatrist, author and management consultant Price Cobbs, M.D., founder of San Francisco's Pacific Management Systems. KRON Channel 4's Pam Moore emcees the festivities at The Century Club, 1355 Franklin.

Dr. Cobbs, author of Black Rage and The Jesus Bag, was co-producer of the award winning video series Valuing Diversity and has been an advisor in South Africa on the dynamics of diversity. He is currently working on a memoir titled Beyond Rage. Anderson, a PhD., is vice-president of San Francisco's Meridian International Institute.

The award, presented biennially since 1991, honors the late Dr. Rollo May, the Tiburon psychologist, humanist, author and a founding father of existential and humanistic psychology. Dr. May was associated with Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center in San Francisco which now houses the Rollo May Center for Humanistic Studies. Regionally accredited Saybrook, which is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, offers MA and PhD degrees in Psychology, Human Science and Organizational Systems based in the humanistic tradition.
