San Jose Public Library Celebrates African American History Month With a Visit from Two-Time Newbery Award Winning Author, Walter Dean Myers along with Son & Artist, Christopher Myers
(San
Jose, CA) - Father and son visit San Jose to discuss their latest
collaborative book release: "Harlem.an engaging, lyrical poem that brings
to life the sounds and songs, the colors and rhythms, the people and places
that defined the everyday life of a community that helped to shape American
culture. While Walter's words communicate the hope and faith that people
shared as they traveled to upper Manhattan, Christopher's rich and boldly-assembled
collage art resonates with feeling to tell a tale of its own. Together,
these words and pictures invite readers of all ages to discover the spirit
of Harlem in its art, literature and music - showing us how the community
has touched us all." (Scholastic)
