Published: March 20, 1999 RON KENOLY
Kenoly's new album, Majesty is scheduled for a September 29th CD and video release, which completes the terms of his previous contract. The set features twelve rousing tracks recorded live at Rev. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. The sold-out concert drew 8,000 worshippers, including Rev. Falwell. It was a rare event for the conservative Baptist audience to host a Charismatic leader like Kenoly who was heartily embraced by the students. The concert boasts a 500-voice choir and full orchestra featuring renowned guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr., bassist Abraham Laboriel and Justo Almario on woodwinds. "When I stand before a congregation, it's not to put on a show, but it's to draw people into an awareness of the presence of God so they can worship him," Kenoly says. Kenoly has sold over 3 million worship albums, which have grossed over $24 million, a phenomenal amount of sales for this growing branch of the Christian industry. As a soul singer in the seventies, Kenoly recorded for MCA and A&M Records. He recommitted his life to Christ in 1975 and began down the sometimes rocky road that led him to record his first praise and worship album for Integrity Records in 1991 and he's been the label's #1 marquee artist ever since. Since recently receiving his doctorate in sacred music, many are now calling Kenoly "The Professor of Praise."
