MARLON WAYANS STARS IN NEW AT&T SPOTS
Comedic Actor Promotes 1-800-CALL-ATT TM for Collect
Calls
February 17, 1999 - Actor/comedian Marlon Wayans has added AT&T to his list of television and film credits. Wayans recently signed with AT&T to promote 1-800-CALL-ATT TM for Collect Calls. Wayans' appeal within the general market, as well as his popularity among the growing hip-hop audience, make him the perfect choice for the new AT&T campaign.
Wayans currently co-stars with his brother Shawn in "The Wayans Bros." which is in its fifth season on the WB Television Network. He was most recently seen starring in the feature films Senseless (Miramax Films) with David Spade and The Sixth Man (Disney/Touchstone). Wayans also wrote, executive produced and starred in "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" (Miramax).
"I've enjoyed working with AT&T and look forward to the ongoing campaign. I think it is fun and energetic, just like me," Wayans said.
"We're very pleased to add Marlon Wayans to the 1-800-CALL-ATT team," said Howard McNally, AT&T Vice President, Transaction Services. "His broad and growing appeal among today's youth, as well as his strong comedy background, make him ideal for our ad campaign that capitalizes on humor and music to talk to today's teens on the convenience of using 1-800-CALL-ATT for their collect calls."
The new television and radio campaigns use music, fashion and humor to capture the attention of young, cutting-edge consumers and make them aware of the convenience of using 1-800-CALL-ATT for Collect Calls.
The campaign includes two television spots, entitled, "Barber Shop" and "This Town," which, can be seen on network and cable TV stations including FOX, The WB, BET, MTV and ESPN. Additional spots will round out the campaign and are slated for production later this year. The radio spots are now airing on stations in the top 10 markets.
