Reveals How to Wear the Hottest Fall Makeup Trend: the Colour Purple -

NEW YORK - The biggest trend in makeup for fall 2002 arrives with a punch of purple, from a light, translucent lavender to an almost black magenta, every shade of purple will be gracing lips, eyes and nails. Purple will be everywhere; on everyone and it will be seen both day and night. For example, at night, dark smoky, purple hazy eyes will emerge while a softer, daytime look will feature soft washes of lavender on the eyes.
"Women today embrace colour the brightest blues, pinks, greens and yellows from last season have become part of women's everyday makeup looks," states Ross Burton, National Artistic Director for Lancôme. "Now purple arrives as the next big, bright colour trend that women can get really excited about. It's a bold fashion statement that all women can enjoy with their own personal touch. With Lancôme's new Purple Rain Fall 2002 Colour Collection, women have many options to translate the purple trend into beautiful, individualized and wearable makeup looks," states Burton.
Here, Ross Burton shares the colour forecast for fall 2002 with expert tips on how to wear the new shades of purple:
VIBRANT, VIOLET EYES...
-
For a daytime look, or for women hesitant to jump into the purple trend, try a subtle soft wash of light, metallic lavender all over the eyes with a few light coats of mascara. Get the look with Lancôme. Colour Focus in Spectra and Amplicils.
-
For night, create a dramatic look for the eyes with a smoldering, smoky deep purple effect, starting with brilliant shades of purple swept across the lids. Try Lancôme. Ombre Trio in No Moderation. Use Lancôme. Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to define the top of the eyes and then line the eyes again with a heavy line of liquid eye colour Lancôme. Artliner in Prune. To finish this look, add several coats of mascara.
-
Lancôme's new Crayon Givré is a refreshing way to experience eye colour. Featured in silver lavender, metallic lilac and velvet purple, this gel based eye colour pencil provides an intense cooling sensation of freshness upon application. The pencils can be used as a liner, all over lid colour, as a highlighter or placed on top of the cheekbone for added shimmer.
-
Lancôme's new Fantasy Tubes in a dusty, twilight mauve leaves eyes with an ultra-luminous shiny look. Perfect for applying over Crayon Givré in No Regrets or to complement any eye colour as a splash of shimmer just below the brow.
WHISPERS OF PURPLE ACROSS THE LIPS...
-
To add a touch of lavender shimmer to lips, look no further than Lancôme's new potted lip gloss (just like the pros use) featuring tone on tone sparkles. New Gloss Focus in No Rules (a tender mauve) and No Problem (a dark, silver violet) can be worn alone for a soft, sparkling effect or over your favorite lipstick to add a subtle hint of purple shine.
-
Lancôme Juicy Tubes offer lips a mirror like finish and its loyal fan base can attest that this is a must have for fall. The new colours include a translucent mauve, shimmering lavender, mystical prune and midnight magenta. Juicy Tubes can be worn alone, with lip liner or over any of the newest shades of Lancôme Rouge Attraction.
GLOWING TOUCHES...
-
To achieve the misty, glowing look that can be seen on just about every magazine cover model, try Lancôme Touche Liberté This ingenious new sheer highlighter offers an all in one sponge applicator for easy on the go application. The formula is ultra sheer and adds a boost of luminous, glowing colour when worn alone or over existing foundation.
-
For nails, the hot colours for fall include a pearly mauve and a vibrant, deep magenta. In two distinct shades of purple covering both ends of the purple spectrum try Lancôme Vernis Magnétic in No Alibi and No Excuses.
