Hall of Fame Quarterback Steve Young to Speak at Bay Area Unites Tsunami Benefit Event
Former 49er to join community leaders and entertainers at the HP Pavilion Sunday

MILPITAS, Calif. -- February 18, 2005 -- Bay Area Unites (www.BayAreaUnites.org), a coalition of business, civic, cultural and religious organizations, announced NFL legend Steve Young will speak at its program, "One Mind, One Heart," Sunday at the HP Pavilion. His inspirational speech will mark his first public appearance in the Bay Area since being named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this month.

"Survivors of the Tsunami still need all the help we can offer." Young said. "I'm proud to be a member of a community that is working to improve lives half a world away."

Young, a long-time supporter of Bay Area causes, joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1987 and lives in Palo Alto, Calif. He founded the Forever Young Foundation in 1993, an organization that serves children, primarily in Northern California, Arizona and Utah.

"Young is a true leader, hero and role model for all of us," said Vish Mishra, convener of event and Senior Venture Partner, Clearstone Venture Partners. "We hope his speech will inspire Bay Area residents young and old to continue participating in the relief efforts."

Sunday's event features several musical performances, celebrities and inspirational appearances, including a video message from former President Bill Clinton. Tickets are still available for $10 at www.ticketmaster.com or at www.BayAreUnites.org. The program will begin at 2 P.M. at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, doors to open at 1:15 p.m.
